Dear Reader
with this presentation I insert in the discussion between two pilots, not only dedicated to offshore sailing, but mapmakers, for science as well as necessity. Two sailors solitary (each with himself and God for all ") that at some point feel the need to address their concerns, confessing their Rovelli, trying to convince the other party: that is always the best way to exorcise them. Then imagine two sailors for life, who in mid-ocean approach hulls, compare the cards and begin to discuss something important, which is not right to speak and that every academy for giving reliable and 'obvious'. The problem is that the two whisper - even in the midst of the sea is not permissible to talk about - is whether there is the archipelago of "certain things". Archipelago reported differently on the charts. The first sailor Masoni Marco Vinicio says that the cards are the transcription of attempted solutions, graphic metaphors, illusory tricks, tell stories, and that the truth is transient, and its existence is only possible in the archipelago of the paradoxes. The other pilot, Bruno Vezzani, argues that "the cards are mere representations and maps are not the territory, only if you accept that we have the chart as fiction and spirit of reason and pragmatic tight, it helps us to find the land we seek, even if it is different from how people think it is. "
Dear reader I decided to write this introduction, planning to direct it to a student, apprentice or better, no matter the age and professional status. Everyone in the glow of dawn, waking often, we suddenly find apprentices. Doubt assails the transparency of the air makes things too complicated and defined. The hope is that someone somewhere knows how they are actually matters of life and teach us what and how, and especially to simplify the chaos, uncertainty set in order and face reality coincide with words. Someone from Parmenides to Wittengstein, Masoni reminds us, has already told us that knowledge coincides with the language and the world through him we see is an invention. Alice worried as we wonder "What will become of our name if we go into the woods of the things that have no name?" Vezzani is optimistic and, like the Queen, says that only those with power can define reality, making it there and making it viable and useful.
Dear reader imagining the indefinite lost at sea, I suppose at this point you turn the volume of your radio on board. The two, Vezzani and Mason, they're not talking about personal Rovelli, discuss their experience, but look, if you have ear and eye, are also talking of your charts.
Perhaps this introduction is superfluous, imagine that you're impatient. E 'for this reason that the majority miss the introductions or prefaces, and what nobody has ever found fault with. Despite being among those who would abolish this practice in its ritual forms and ornamental, the introduction can be a useful accessory, a bit 'as the setting for some pictures. Used to better define the look, to move towards the prospects of the painting. Dear reader, I tell you now that if you're not a sailor, if you're not into that certain problems, maybe you'll find topics to discuss with airtight two authors. For example, if you're a seminarian, a student of psychological matters, rather than an apprentice on a ship hub philosophy or sociology, you may be disappointed, for the few words that remind your specialized vocabulary (for example, the term "group"), those same that could mislead you and do not understand that, with no mention, you can talk much more than "run" and "therapy", technical procedures, or diagnostic evaluations. Few dense pages, the more yeast bread, the baker's art more suitable food.
Vezzani Bruno and Marco Vinicio Masoni, have written letters, made it a book, or have created a book to write letters, but it does not concern us. What interests us is to understand what it can to listen and think and imagine what you say. Perhaps you read these few pages is an antidote to the forms of artificial intelligence that engulf the internet and the tireless workshops for academic careers, from books about autism child, or to large drops ooze from some respectable depressing article. Although written by two experienced professionals, these letters will not talk much about
psychology, a term whose abuse often relegates the intelligence to house arrest, as the word psychiatry over the human passions to mandatory medical treatment.
This unique match will result in you reader a healthy confusion, increasing the likelihood of them discover the wonders of post-modern. What I do not know does not leave gaps in the world, and that you know well from seeing each other. If this is true, it should give a little shake to the kaleidoscope of our knowledge and thoughts. E 'recommended a patient and fun reading. The air we breathe is crisp, the authors, despite their position as psychologists, wrote an excellent Italian: Forgot condition, but needed to have and cultivate a thought, without recourse to uncertain translations. Among the recommendations for use would suggest the reader to obtain some healthy lexicon: the reader thanks to the authors could find an interest in the pre-Socratic, for Borges or Huxley, or discover the work of Gaetano Mosca, if interested issues of power.
Now we come to the impression of partiality. If a reading raises ideas, comments and opinions, what I say reflects my "free association" rather than the intentions of the authors. In short, the wooden frame. The letters can be read as: a) the views of two influential and well-educated gentlemen who are professional psychotherapists (and much, fortunately). b) raid of the dizziness that we take whenever we have the courage to look beyond the windows that we call "group", "power", 'report', 'narratives' and' discursive logic ", c) an exercise deconstruction and reconstruction of what we already know, discovering other possible architectures; d) the search for a passage to 'North West' to use (Vezzani) and exit (Mason) from the traps of 'how' we think and talk. For example: how to deal with 'aporia', 'oxymoron', 'paradox', binary logic, reified, complexity, and other absurdities, where the language, experience and construction of reality, these psychological, can not be handled, conceived as logical constructs? The method is no longer entrusted with the procedural rules of technical knowledge. The manual of young marmots, small chemical, the small therapist, have long completed their task. Childhood is over, the prolonged adolescence as well, not realistic to expect miracles and support. The eye wanders over the edges of the cards and maps.
Dear reader, I guess you've already discovered on your behalf that the "map is not the territory", says Vezzani, although they can not transcend the dichotomous structure of our thoughts, we can use them, without getting entangled. While Masoni warns us that a psychological construct is a logical construct, it also invites us to use other paths of reason. The world of relationships, groups, power, and narratives, which is constantly remodeled by him as a story, a world that is real in its effects. In short, a small, thin book, conversations mild to heavy topics, dizziness for small deep pits, "where the truth is all described in-game." A book written for thinking.
Dear reader, often you'll be asked, not having courage to confess, "but a group, what is? Only a group of people, or something else? "I think the quality is emerging from a relationship, rather than a specific or the result of a definition. Writes Mikhail Bakhtin (1963) "A single voice does not carry anything and nothing decided. Two voices are the minimum of life, the minimum of being. " Even George Mead (1931) argued that to have a mind it takes two brains in the report. And even before the beginning of the twentieth century, William James (1901) wrote that 'every person has many selves as there are people important to him'. The group will always find in the polyphony of the 'voices from within' and 'outside', is rustling the thoughts that constantly interact with each other. But who is James, Mead and Bakhtin? In the so-called post-modern psychology are the most cited of Freud, Skinner and Eysenck, and the DSM IV, although in the early '80s, Padua, Fabio Metelli one of the existing experimental psychologists, asked me at a young professor graduation session, "but this has to do with psychology thesis on Foucault?". With Bakhtin, Foucault, and before that with Goffman, Mead, James, and then with logicians and philosophers of language of Oxford and anthropology of Geertz we enter the so-called post-modern psychology, they are part of the conceptual problems and angle Vezzani Bruno and Marco Vinicio Masoni.
Dear reader, you may ask, what is this "post-modern psychology? How do I put this chart in a frame of reference is so general? Perhaps it is some appropriate coordinate. I answer, by a prominent historian of psychology, Mecacci Luciano writes in his book (modern and post-modern psychology, Yale University Press, 2003). "Back at the end of this century the same spectrum that shook the philosophers and psychologists at the end of the last century: the dilemma of psychology as natural science, based on the explanation and experimentation, and human psychology as a science based on the interpretation- understanding .. e.. thinking on narrative, descriptive and contemplative, which returns to the human mind and social and discursive "... by attacking" the conceptions of the universal subject and the ego has proposed a unified concept of multivariate and multifaceted mental construct, highlighting the
gender differences, ethnic and anthropological factors, and social and cultural diversity of human minds. " The post-modern psychology, construction, and the reaction to the positivistic psychology, academic and empirical, which has proved inadequate, when they decided to become a science of human action, assuming that people's behavior was the extent of mental processes ( perception, memory, attention, learning, etc..) configured and designed as natural entities. The result was a new paradigm, away from the roots, more appropriate, effective and free alternative to a psychology background, nomothetic, normative, ahistorical, deterministic. That turned out to be irrelevant in its ability to deal with practical problems, the behavior of people as intentional and social forms of discomfort, indisputably linked to a constant constructive interaction between observer and observed, including scripts of life, roles, groups and worlds Social and Cultural Rights.
We come now to the differences between the two authors. Here things get a bit complicated ', as discussed Vezzani and Mason facing windows located on two floors, each appealing to different needs and referring: pragmatic and mercurial (Vezzani), conceptual and Apollonian (Mason). We could say that Borges describes Godel and wonders. The first wants to solve problems and allows the imperfection of saying the chances of making change: each group can only be changed by the participant and narratives that generate it. Masoni however, concerned about the shape of the container, believes that the disintegration of the world as we think, is the condition of its transformation, facing the fact that each language game that builds authentic experience alone.
The two authors, Mark and Bruno, cross, 'deconstructive' and full of "gimmicks mercurial." For the understanding of psychological astonished readers, I like to think that just because it started with a genre which involves the breaking of the ordinary, the obvious, the usual. While I think this, and I look up, dear reader, I see myself reflected in the glass of a picture on his desk. I see the grin of a stranger, a rogue, a special surveillance. Hedging this softens me, the smile is now one of the 'Unknown Sailor (Antonello da Messina). For some 'time rather than thinking about the science of a different humanity sore and bruised, I spend time fantasizing on the faces painted by Antonello da Messina. In particular, the smile of the Unknown Sailor (also known as the man of Cefalù) now ironic, now alluding, perhaps cruel, according to points of view. The book of Mark and Bruno, this image reminds me of the mirror, accomplice, earnest but mocking. The player does not face mislead the gentle bonhomie of the authors, where the latter plays the role of the scholar and the first one expert. These few pages are just like the smile of the Unknown Sailor, there is something ironic, winking and disrespectful: an applicant entry into the real crisis of confidence, "dell''universale ', the' binary logic '. Beliefs that anyone would sit and pontificate with peaceful scientific complacency. Instead, the honest practitioner of psychological things'll have to do with the rest of the world, with others and with himself, and on the challenges of the indefinite, and the only dall'irripetibile of nonsense and paradox.
As someone once said, in a marriage if we are not at least three were getting bored. And with this I want to make me forgive the intrusion of the two authors, justifying it with the honesty of intent, which I hope to share with the reader.
